Built by Someone Who's Done the Work
Dwendt Consulting was founded on a simple premise: the best BIM and VDC work comes from people who understand what happens when the model meets the field.
BIM Affects Everyone
Dwendt Consulting was built from real project experience — not theory. Our foundation is large commercial electrical: the coordination challenges, the prefabrication opportunities, the procurement timelines, and what happens when any of those break down. That background shapes how we approach every engagement.
We built this practice around a simple idea: BIM and VDC should be delivered by people who understand the electrical trade from the inside. People who know what a foreman needs from a coordination drawing, what a project manager needs from a 4D simulation, and what an estimator needs from a model-based takeoff.
Today we work with owners, general contractors, and specialty electrical contractors on some of the most demanding project types in the industry — data centers, large commercial electrical installations, and utility-scale renewable energy. Every engagement is built around one model, one version of reality, from design through procurement and into the field.
We Know the Work
BIM Strategy & Custom Automation
Building the internal capability to sustain BIM across an organization — from strategy and standards to custom Dynamo and API automation tailored to your specific workflows.
Large Commercial Electrical
Large commercial electrical projects are where prefabrication pays off most — but only when the model is built for it from the start. We design for prefabrication from day one: routing conduit systems with shop production in mind, generating spool drawings and cut lists directly from the model, and coordinating procurement timelines so materials arrive when the shop needs them. The result is less field labor, fewer change orders, and a crew that shows up to install — not figure things out.
Data Center Infrastructure
Data centers are some of the most coordination-intensive projects in the industry. Tight floor-to-floor heights, dense overhead infrastructure, and multiple trades competing for the same space create conflicts that compound fast if they're not caught early. We run coordination with the urgency those projects demand — every clash logged, every routing decision documented, and every open issue driven to resolution before construction starts. No surprises at the ceiling.
Renewable Energy VDC
Solar, wind, and battery storage projects with complex electrical collection systems, interconnection requirements, and tight energization schedules.
Embedded, Not Transactional
We don't drop deliverables and disappear. We embed with your project team — attending coordination meetings, responding to field questions, and staying engaged through construction. The model is only as valuable as the team's ability to use it, and we make sure yours can.
Single Source of Truth
Every engagement is built around one authoritative model that drives coordination, procurement, fabrication, and construction — no parallel information streams, no version conflicts.
Electrical-First Perspective
We approach every project from the electrical discipline outward. That means we understand the trade constraints, the procurement lead times, and the fabrication opportunities that other BIM consultants miss.
Problems on Screen, Not on Site
The entire point of VDC is to find and resolve conflicts before they become field problems. We run coordination with that urgency — every open clash is a potential change order waiting to happen.
Automation Where It Matters
Repetitive manual tasks slow down a BIM program. We identify automation opportunities and build custom tools — Dynamo scripts, API workflows, and reporting pipelines — tailored to your team.
